After a grueling eight weeks of competition the Monster Jam Fox Sports 1 Championship Series came to its final stop in Syracuse, New York where Stone Crusher and 15 others would try to make their mark on the end of long season. While Steve Sims hasn’t been at the top of the standings, he was one of the most consistent competitors on the series all season long and turned in a number of good showings through out the season coming into Syracuse. Sims and company looked to continue on their success at the Carrier Dome in hopes to make the Monster Jam World Finals XVI field. The trucks took to the track Friday night for practice where Sims and the Stone Crusher were in the middle of the pack with a ninth place time. Saturday night saw them improve as Sims put up an eighth place time which put him into the eight truck racing bracket as the final qualifier. His round one opponent would be a tough one as he faced off against Charlie Pauken and the Grave Digger. It was a good pass for Sims and the Stone Crusher but they came up just short and were defeated by Grave Digger ending their racing efforts for the night.
An early rollover the week before in Detroit had the Stone Crusher slated to go out early in the freestyle competition, but Sims didn’t hold back in his freestyle run putting up a great run. The blue Ford Stone Crusher was running great as Sims put the truck through it’s paces with some big air jumps and several crossthreads. As the clocks hit zero Sims got one more big air shot in for the bonus judge and a few more moves after the clock stopped to cap off a strong freestyle. The fans saluted Sims on the good performance, but the judges weren’t as appreciative resulting in a score of 29. While the scorecards may determine the finishing position, the only result that mattered to Sims was that the fans in Syracuse got a great show from the Stone Crusher.
While the Monster Jam Fox Sports 1 Championship Series has come to a close that doesn’t mean the end of year for the Stone Crusher. Be sure to check back soon for our summer schedule as we hope to see all our awesome fans again soon!
