The 2018 season is well underway at this point as the Stone Crusher monster truck team has spent the past four weeks on the west coast. Traditionally the team hasn’t spent much time on the west coast but this year we were given a unique opportunity to do four events out west with Monster Jam for the Stadium Championship Series 1. The first stop brought the team to Angel Stadium in Anaheim which was one of the only west coast cities the team had competed in previously as a part of the FS1 Championship Series. It was a great event to start off the year despite some mechanical gremlins that crept up during the event.
Before the next event crew chief Michael Sawyer as well as Bryan Wright went through the truck to get it 100% before making the trip down to San Diego, California for the first time. The event would be at Petco Park which was a beautiful venue in the middle of downtown San Diego. It would be another great event for the tour and the Stone Crusher had a solid performance in front of many new fans in San Diego.
Following the event in San Diego the team returned to Anaheim for a second event at Angel Stadium. The fans in Anaheim were just as great the second time and the team had another good showing in front of another sold out crowd. The truck ran great and Steve turned in another good freestyle as well.
To wrap up the west coast swing the team headed a little east over to Glendale, Arizona just outside of Phoenix. The venue was the spectacular University of Phoenix Stadium which has one of the biggest floor’s on the circuit. The event in Glendale was a rocking time with another huge crowd of Monster Jam fans. Steve and the Stone Crusher opened up the freestyle competition and set the tone for the evening’s competition with a good freestyle run.
Now the team makes the journey back towards the east coast with two events this weekend at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Following Houston we head to Miami, Atlanta and Raleigh to wrap up first quarter. Thanks to all the awesome fans as well as our crew and sponsors for your continued support!
