For the second time in three weeks the Stone Crusher team returned to Raymond James Stadium for their third straight major stadium Monster Jam event. This event would present a new challenge for driver Steve Sims and crew as they competed for the first time on a “So-Cal Style” layout. The layout was drastically different from the prior two stadium events to switch things up for the drivers and fans alike. Sims had a tough draw right out of the gate in racing, competing against his old friend Dennis Anderson and the Grave Digger. Anderson would end Sims’ racing efforts early, knocking out the Stone Crusher in the first round.
While racing the past few weeks hasn’t delivered the results the team would hope for, freestyle has seen some spectacular performances and Sims continued that success with another great freestyle run. The Stone Crusher roared out of the pits over one jump, and then Sims skied the truck out with a massive leap over the racing tabletop. That huge leap set the tone for the run as Sims packed his freestyle with many huge air jumps throughout the run. Busses, vans, huge double jumps, and even the shattered remains of a motorhome weren’t safe from the Stone Crusher as Sims tore up the track well beyond the 90 seconds of regulation, and 30 seconds of bonus time for yet another stellar freestyle performance. The run was good enough to tie for the lead at the time, and eventually result in a tie for third place at the end of the night.
With three weeks of Florida shows now complete the Stone Crusher team returns to Virginia for some good old fashioned hometown fun at the Hampton Coliseum with three shows this weekend. We can’t wait to see all of our loyal hometown fans so come on out and cheer us on this weekend!
