The Stone Crusher team was rocking this past weekend as they tore up Monster Jam events from the east coast to the mid-west. While Steve Sims had his Stone Crusher at the 1st Mariner Arena near the Chesapeake Bay harbor of Baltimore, Maryland; Morgan Kane and the second Stone Crusher were at Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The two teams were in winning condition right from the start as each would bring home multiple wins on the weekend. Steve Sims was unstoppable in the wheelie contest in Baltimore, as Sims put the Stone Crusher vertical four times, each time coming up the victor for the weekend sweep of the wheelie contests. Morgan Kane had some success in the wheelie contest himself, as he took out a wheelie legend in Charlie Pauken and Grave Digger for the win Saturday afternoon.
Although the two drivers saw similar challenges for the wheelie contest, their racing courses were not so similar. Sims was against a short one jump drag race, while Kane had to tackle the Chicago-style course. Sims couldn’t find the same luck for racing as he had from wheelies, and was unable to pick up any racing wins. Kane however was tough to beat on the tight Chicago-style course all weekend long, advancing into the finals for all three shows, and picked up the racing win Saturday night over the Monster Mutt Rottweiler.
Freestyle is always a strong element for the Stone Crusher team and this weekend would be no different. The always hard charging Steve Sims duked it out with Brutus and Grave Digger for the top spot all weekend as he would finish in third for three out of the four events. Unfortunately an engine issue sidelined the truck for the final freestyle on Sunday. Morgan Kane attacked the track during his freestyle performances, opening up with second place finish Saturday afternoon, and a third place finish that evening. With just one last chance at victory, Kane closed out the weekend on top as he brought home the freestyle win.
Next weekend the Stone Crusher team will be taking over the Sunshine State of Florida. Steve Sims will be at Everbank Field in Jacksonville, and Morgan Kane will be in Pensacola.
