Following a great outing in Atlanta with some unique circumstances, the team was back to business as usual this past weekend as they traveled to Charlotte and Tampa respectively. Morgan Kane was excited for a great oppurtinity to get out and perform in front of his homestate fans in Charlotte at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Kane came out firing on Friday night, dominating the wheelie competition with a clear victory over the competition. In racing Kane made it all the way to the finals before being edged out by Gary Porter and Grave Digger. Freestyle saw Kane put the Stone Crusher to work with a great freestyle coming up just one point shy Porter for the win. Porter recognized the talent of Kane in a post event interview saying “He’s an insurance driver. He’s insurance that in 20 years when I’m up in the stands as a fan, I’ll still have great drivers to watch.” On Saturday Kane continued the trend, picking up two more wheelie contest victories for the weekend sweep, as well as an overall racing win on Saturday afternoon. Although Kane didn’t pick up any freestyle wins, he pushed Porter to the limit with two more great freestyle runs to cap off a great weekend.
Coming off of a great showing in Atlanta, Steve Sims and company traveled south to Tampa, Florida, where Raymond James Stadium would host this weekend’s Monster Jam event. Unfortunately, the night didn’t quite go to plan for Sims and Stone Crusher. While Sims was able to defeat former racing champion Madusa in the first round of racing, Sims would fall to Grave Digger The Legend in round two. In freestyle it looked like Sims was on his way to a great performance, getting some great air early into his run, when the Stone Crusher took a bad bounce on the backside of the double and sent the truck over onto its roof. Despite the short performance, Sims and Stone Crusher still managed to earn a score of 18.
For Steve Sims, he and his crew will stay in the Florida for another week as they will be at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando this Saturday. Morgan Kane will be heading to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. for 4 shows at the Verizon Center.
