The Stone Crusher team traveled from Tampa to Orlando looking to bounce back from an off weekend, and did so in a big way. The always raucous crowd in Orlando packed the Citrus Bowl for a wild night of Monster Jam action. The night started off well enough for Steve Sims and the Stone Crusher as they received a first round bye in racing, but was unable to continue in racing after battery issues prevented the truck from firing.
After Tommy Powers and the rest of the crew tracked down the battery problems, the Stone Crusher was back to 100% and Steve Sims prepared to give the truck all it had in freestyle. Sims attacked the course right out of the pits, building up momentum with each jump. A minute into the run Sims followed up the massive air with a huge crossthread jump over the bus stack. The back end of the truck just clipped the bus, and bounced the truck into a rollover, and back onto all four wheels. With the Stone Crusher still running, Sims hit the gas and kept going despite a broken axle. While the ill-handling truck was a challenge to drive, Sims persevered and drove on to complete his freestyle run with a few more big leaps and a couple of saves as well. The run would take the lead with a 27 and would be good enough for fourth place overall.
After a stellar night in Orlando, Steve Sims the Stone Crusher team leaves the sunshine state of Florida, and heads north to St. Louis, Missouri for their first ever visit to the Edward Jones Dome.
